Fire Police exist to protect the personnel, property, and operations of the Lakeview City Fire District. They serve as the District’s sworn law enforcement division, combining protective duties with operational support to ensure that firefighters and medics can perform their jobs safely and without interference.
Their mission is carried out through four primary functions: defending firefighters, securing stations, protecting emergency scenes, and patrolling all District-owned property. Fire Police enforce laws, direct traffic, control perimeters, and intervene whenever District personnel or assets are threatened.
Fire Police hold full law enforcement authority within the jurisdiction of the Lakeview City Fire District and act as sworn officers responsible for enforcing all applicable laws, regulations, and District policies.
Fire Police have the authority to:
Conduct traffic enforcement related to emergency operations or District property.
Detain, arrest, and investigate individuals who pose a threat to LCFD operations or commit crimes affecting LCFD.
Enforce restricted areas, perimeters, and evacuation orders at fire and EMS scenes.
Issue citations for violations affecting District operations or property.
Conduct investigations involving threats, vandalism, interference, or criminal acts on District premises or that threaten District employees.
Support Fire Investigations by protecting scenes and securing evidence.
Fire Police operate under Fire Command at emergency incidents but retain independent authority over enforcement, arrest decisions, and use of force.
Fire Police must utilize body camera footage via a clipping or recording software at all times.
Fire Police officers will:
Intervene if a responder or civilian is in imminent danger due to unlawful force. (Mutual Aid)
Report all force used to their chain of command.
Document incidents consistent with law enforcement reporting standards.
Respond to LLE panic buttons if not otherwise occupied (Mutual Aid)
Engage in vehicle pursuits lasting more than 60 seconds
Engage in Non-LCFD-related criminal enforcement (unless via mutual aid)
Conduct Traffic Stops not related to District operations

Safety of Uninvolved Citizens
Uninvolved, or otherwise innocent, citizens of the county (including emergency responders) are the top priority of our district at all times.
2
Involved citizens, including emergency responders, are the 2nd priority of the district.
3
Property is the third priority of the District, and the district should take all actions to protect property once all lives have been secured.
